Goofy, but true. So I think I was afraid I'd do the same with the podcast. But I recorded a book with a professional sound guy, THE NIGHT SHIFTERS, and that audiobook is available on AUDIBLE. When I can scrape together the moolah, I want to record another book with the same engineer, a new one titled THE TERRIBLE TWELVES (it was co-written by my husband, Ernest Hogan).

You're right, you have to read a section aloud several times to get confident with it -- THE NIGHT SHIFTERS was hard work, but satisfying.

My freelance editor is almost done with A MERCIFUL PLAGUE, so I'll be revising it soon. After that I hope I can get my agent interested in it. It's a crap shoot these days, and very tough to get a publisher. I'll go the ebook route if it doesn't work out, but I want to give A MERCIFUL PLAGUE a year to make the rounds. In the meantime. I'll keep writing (and hopefully selling) short stories, and I'll post links to them on this blog. Think you could do this professionally. (Just one point on the podcast Butchers block the speaker ask for pointers to improve the podcast - they were told at the start to first read several paragraphs then go into the story - as at the start of that podcast it sounded rushed and uneven, you too had this issue.)

Did post this reply last week, but some how it didn't take.

Any possibility of you listing a rough time table of when your work will be out?

K.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1548194306767452285.post-42772644446184104372015-04-28T09:42:18.296-07:002015-04-28T09:42:18.296-07:00The podcast was an audio anthology (can't reme...The podcast was an audio anthology (can't remember the name), and that was me reading "The Cat at the End of the World." I am going to try to get all my backlist out. At this point, it's partly a matter of money -- I hire a formatter so the ebooks will look good. And I don't like to do crowdfunding because too many people are out there asking for basics like rent, medical, and pet surgeries. I figure they need the money more than me.Emily Devenporthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07256608640761617862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1548194306767452285.post-82356293086582253442015-04-26T05:26:44.368-07:002015-04-26T05:26:44.368-07:00Great to hear this- just asked as a while ago you ...Great to hear this- just asked as a while ago you posted the new and old work you were doing + YA story's then nothing more was mentioned.

I have Eggheads and later stories- will any of the very earlier work be included in your schedule- Most authors I find tend to leave their older work till last as they tend to work for hard copy which they convert to electronic copy and it takes so long.

Finally, I came across a story on a podcast, which had your name as author, was it you also reading the story?

Look forward to your new work.
K. It's due, in part, to some new writing I've been doing. I just finished a new novel (A MERCIFUL PLAGUE) and I've hired an editor to go over it and help me make it more sell-able. I've also written a bunch of new short stories, and two of them just got published: "Dr. Polingyouma's Machine" to Uncanny Magazine and "Postcards From Monster Island" to Clarkesworld -- they can both be read for free now on the magazine websites. I was hoping to get ENEMIES and EGGHEADS up pretty soon. I will step up my efforts. : / Thank you for asking!Emily Devenporthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07256608640761617862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1548194306767452285.post-61947879117141152782015-04-07T09:56:48.872-07:002015-04-07T09:56:48.872-07:00Hi,
